01. Georges Seurat

 

Expansive form with overlaid masses of sound differentiated by method of articulation.  These sound masses might be thought of as being analogous to the block figures which were so carefully planned in Suerat’s A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grange Jatte.  From measure one, there is an obvious analogy with the painter’s innovation, pointillism.
